Yesterday was John's grandparents anniversary. 60 YEARS OF MARRIAGE! We are going to an anniversary party for them on Sunday afternoon, but we wanted to honor the day on our own as well.
Grandpa Ernie is the man that got Travis interested in trains (I have a post about him from last year). So we thought it would be appropriate if we took them to lunch at the Steaming Tender Restaurant in Palmer Massachusetts. None of us had been there before. The restaurant is in an old train station. We had so much fun. Of course the boys were in their glory. The girls were just happy to be out and about together.
Here is Travis posing at the ticket booth. He said, "This is the best day of my life!" I guess we didn't need to blow all that cash yesterday at Six Flags. If only we knew that before!
The boys explore the old steam train.
Here are Peggy and Ernie with two of their Great-Grandchildren. 60 years of marriage has resulted in many good times and lots of love. They had two children, 6 grandchildren (all boys) and now have 7 great-grandchildren.
I had to take a picture of this house. Quite the painting job!
The trains passed by as we were eating dinner. Here are Chelsea and Travis enjoying the view.
Here we all are at the table.
Here are Chelsea and Peggy. Chelsea is sitting on a shoe-shine bench.
When the waitress heard it was their 60th anniversary she insisted on bringing over some ice cream and singing to Peggy and Ernie. Peggy burst into tears. We just snapped pictures left and right. I am sure I will blog again about the anniversary party on Sunday, too. But 60 years of marriage is nothing to sneeze at. Let's celebrate!
